Feedback from SEN Group – variable implementation date

3.1

Not all the sub-groups had met, consequently they were asked to ensure that all groups discussed this matter to present views at 23 July meeting to enable a decision.  Mark Carriline stated that in addition to the advantages to primary sector there would need to be no detrimental effect on secondary and all age schools in order for a variable implementation date to go ahead.

3.2

Staff had consulted their colleagues in schools to find out their opinions.  Equity for both staff and pupils was a major consideration, also the impact of a potential double move for some pupils.  Overall the majority of all staff were strongly opposed to a variable implementation date.

Feedback on Staff Consultation Document

4.1

The following matters were identified from the initial analysis:

Reasonable split across all schools for both teaching and non-teaching staff on first choice schools, although some potential drift away from Keighley for teachers.
Substantial numbers of staff declared no preference on second choice indicating the importance of as many staff as possible achieving their first choice.
Approximately 70% of both teaching and non-teaching staff declared that travelling time and school location was either very important or significant to them.
Approximately 70% of non-teaching staff declared travelling cost to be not relevant, suggesting they were not likely to incur significant travelling cost.
Some support staff indicated they would not need an alternative post suggesting possible retirement plans.

Input corrected figures for numbers of school staff provided by school reps to analysis.
