Matters arising

The next Vision into Practice group meets on 15 March and will have a presentation from a DfES architect.
Review of EY SN Services etc.

Several possible leads have been followed without success.

Other suggestions were discussed including the possibility of using a Educational Psychologist.

Parents Meetings

Tricia, Rosemary and Maggie met immediately before this meeting to plan for 24 March meeting 7.00 – 9.00 pm at Shipley Library.

It needs to be made clear that this is not part of the Special Schools consultation. It is an information and discussion session.

Format of meeting

7.00 Introductions and Introductory comments Sheila and Glenn

To include – information about the sub group

special schools

wider issues

need to share views

7.10 Presentation Sheila and Glenn

To include – principles

how we came to this point

key points from EPP paper.

Action Maggie and Ronnie will prepare this.

At this stage we are presenting a small amount of information for people to ask questions. If we can’t answer them then we will take them away.

We are not there to answer questions about individual children but will signpost.

    1. Group discussions

Questions to consider

What works well?

What do you want to see replicated?

What would you like to see changed?

Ideally each group should have a facilitator and a scribe but this may not be possible.

8.15 Feedback from groups – Sheila to chair

9.00 Close

Reminder of future dates. Possible main focus of future meetings – 6 May Children’s Centres

10 June Wider review

We thought about questions that might be asked.

What choice will parents have?

Will provision and facilities be replicated?

Therapies?

What about P/T or F/T places?

Transport? Is there a policy?

Will there be flexibility?

How will be provision be accessed? Referral routes?

What is going to happen to resourced nurseries?

Will all children in special schools/other specialist provision still have a place?

What will happen to mainstream children in the community nurseries?

We need to be clear about who is answering each area of questions.

We need to prepare some information beforehand.

Tricia agreed to find out who did Punjabi translation and BSL interpretation at special school consultation meetings.

Who will be there?

Sheila Rye

Glenn Allgood

Robin Naylor hopefully

Ronnie Hartley hopefully
